I admit I'm pretty intrigued and excited about this. _________________ Paul Mitchener

Looks good. Will this be in the same size format as the plain text version, and do you know a rough page count yet?
Overall the settings sound interesting and unique too. |

@dr_mitch Hopefully I should have a proof/final thing with me at March TomCon. Failing that a print out of the complete manuscript
@Black Spiral Its colour covers A4 fully B&W illustrated. Approx page count 250+
I'm a bit in heads 'down get it done mode' at the moment, but closer to release I'll update the d101 website with a more extensive preview. _________________ Toodle pip!

Very nicely drawn cover.
Unfortunately, it tells anyone who knows nothing about the game that Wordplay is a Warhammer-type game. All that's communicated to the uninitiated is that this has something to do with playing in a dreary, very-gritty medieval-esque European setting.
For that purposes, it's not a good cover at all. For the amount of heroics that one can do in Wordplay, this doesn't give me any of that.
Ugh. |

I hate to have to say this, but it is the wrong cover for this book. It should be a SF or near future cover given the contents of the book, which I know you don't want to hear, but it's true.
Is it too late to go looking for a more appropriate piece of artwork?

Worry not it is a mere placeholder
I shall post the final cover when I have some time, after I return from my family holiday next week.
The placeholder cover shown (Jon Hodgson's "The Adventurers") is going to be used for a Gothic Horror game that I'll be releasing later in the year _________________ Toodle pip!

Unfortunately I've dropped Flashpoint due to time constraints,
So the mix of the book is;
Fantasy/Urban Fantasy/Conspiracy Thriller /Gonzo Sci-fi
There's a fair bit of Fantasy in there from that mix
Its still going to be the Big Five, despite me dropping Flashpoint, because the system itself + four themes = The Big Five. _________________ Toodle pip!

Agreed- you could make it as Tom suggests but it would be just as misleading. Something bold an striking would be good - I look forward to seeing the real cover! _________________ First Age

Eh. Honestly? Everybody's going to see that as a fudge, and 'The Big Five' is an odd thing to call it anyway. It kind of implies that other stuff that's going to be released for Wordplay, which we all hope will be copious and lovely, is unimportant. Why not just quietly let that title go and call it something else? (Eg 'Words of Adventure'.) |

Its an odd name that I kinda like and has special significance to me
And yes it is a fudge....but really in the scheme of things its not importance and not EVERYONE will see it. To be honest in the scheme of things I don't think people will give a rats ass.
As for your implication, I just love it when Nerdz think too hard and come to conclusions that are just plain wrong
Ok has anybody, except Graham, got anything nice to say about the book are are you all in a pedantic picky mood today? _________________ Toodle pip!

See above. I'm looking forward to it. I'm saving my pedantic pickiness for other things... _________________ Paul Mitchener

| I'm looking forward to seeing the modern/sci-fi Themes and how they are tackled using the Wordplay rules. It will be interesting to see some actual settings using Wordplay. |

Singularities will arrive, it's just got to grow up a bit more.
