There is a RuneQuest II/Glorantha forum that some of you might be interested in called 'Gringle's Pawnshop.' It covers the Chaosium 2nd edition of RuneQuest, not the current one from Mongoose.
Might be worth a look?

Speaking for myself, not only am I intending to explain Lacuna's rules before the game, I've actually managed to fit them on the back of the character sheets.
Gotta love weird rules-light indie games.

Starblazers for me, but then I don't have DFRPG or Diaspora - so for me its a choice between Starblazers and SotC and I like the former a bit better in that gear has some impact, plus I would use it for Star Wars

Starblazers was my first FATE game and the one that therefore inspired me the most when I wrote Free FATE.

Right I'm having an open call for submissions for Issue five of Hearts in Glorantha.

I'm open to anything, adventures, non-player character write ups, myths, cult write ups, fiction - with a strong emphasis on stuff that can be used or inspire actual play.

Deadline for submissions : End of October

Here's the submission guidelines

All submissions should be made to the Editor at

newt@d101games.co.uk

Authors
First off write a short synopsis of your article, five hundred words maximum, and send it to me. Then if I like your idea I’ll ask you to submit the full piece.

Submissions should be in Microsoft Word or text format with plain formatting. By all means include a formated version to give me some idea of how to lay it out, but I must also have the plain text only version.

Artists
Submissions should be 300dpi images. While I accept unsolicited submissons it is also useful to contact me before hand to see what is planned for the next issue.

Copyright
Copyright remains with the author/artists. Issaries, Inc and its Licensors (Moon Designs and Mongoose Publishing) has the right to use any Gloranthan concepts in this magazine. Issaries Inc owns all Proprietary Material as defi ned in the license with Boldhome Press.
How this Copyright Statement Works

In plain English, what the above means is that Issaries Inc and its Liscensors (Moon Designs and Mongoose Publishing) has the right to use the concept and owns the Proprietary Material (ie the stuff that Greg and Issaries has written over the years). But they do not have the right to just take material others have written and say it is theirs.

For example, if Simon writes a story about the Boatspeople of Kethaela, Issaries and its Licensors have the right to use theconcepts, people, places and ideas in the story. But they do not have the right to print the story itself without Simon’s permission.

                                      Hi all

Just a quick post to say in big capital letters WORDPLAY ISN'T DEAD!!

The core system + four settings (themes) is available as "Wordplay: The Big Five"

http://d101games.co.uk/wordplay

WPB5 has been out since early April and is selling steadlily. Took a pile along to Continuum at the begining of the month and sold 2/3 of the stock I think people are still digesting the game, I've yet to see any actual play reports or any games spring up at Conventions independant of the people involved in development, but I'm quite confident that in a years time there will be a nice little buzz around the game. OpenQuest started off slowly like this and 2 years on its a game thats spawning other games, being run at conventions on a regular basis by people other than myself and has a dedicated following.

Talking of Continuum the author Graham Spearing did a talk about the game, and one of the sections was the future of the game.

This comes down to two tracks;

1. The Creative Commons version. If you've bought the original 6"x9" plain text version or the Big Five, this is the version you've got. D101 will be championing this version, by making the text of it available via our website (I've just finished the files this morning and they are going to be checked before release), and providing ongoing support in the form of Adventures in Wordplay, a new ongoing series of adventure collections. We'll also be developing standalone games from it, I've got a couple in development and I'm working with another developer on another game. From the Creative Commons text, you can either get the game for free and try it out or make your own supplements or games and release them either for free or commercially.

2. A commericial version being developed by Triple Ace Games. Graham can tell you more about this, because he's acting as Line Developer, but from what he said it would consist of a core rulebook with seperate theme books. Also be aware that the commercial version may not be called 'Wordplay', although it will acknowledge the games hertiage in its intro.

I think there are various roles in a group of PCs, not all of which need to be filled.

Ones that spring to mind at the moment:

Magic-user
Fighter
Sneaky Person
Know-it-all
Face man
Healer
Leader
Comic Relief

Not all of these are to do with character stats- some are to do with how a player chooses to run them.

The thing is, typically a character will have two or possibly three roles in the sense I've listed. A typical RPG wizard will be magic-user and know-it-all. A paladin might be both fighter and healer. A leader might also be both face man and comic relief. Et cetera.

Personally I think we should have one of the Gopher team perpetually doing the rounds of all the rooms, kitchens and gaming tables to take coffee/team/double-double/latte/cappucino/frappe/etc, etc and doing a Starbucks run once per hour.

That brings back happy memories of Scotscon, where the gophers took bar orders and meal orders, for delivery to the gaming table. Amazing bunch of people, mostly local students as I recall.
