Running an idea up the mast:

overseas lands. The forest retreated in the face of the industry and
civilisation of the empire. The ways of the old people were forgotten,
by many, but not by all. The empire fell, torn apart by petty
rivalries they say, but the old ones know that the heart of the green
whispered into the dreams of ambitious men and caused the fall.

Where the empire retreated, the forest advanced, reclaiming its own.
Four generations ago, more invaders came from across the sea, casting
down the men who had ruled since the old days. They brought industry
back, but took care not to encroach into the woods. They knew that the
woods have life, have dreams. They knew that the wood's dreams can
leech to and from men, giving substance to nightmare and myth. They
knew that opposing the Greenwood was foolhardy, for their god had
taught them that placating the green is a necessity lest they rise in
wrath.

The Greenwood tolerates the few cankers of towns within them, for they
have been appeased with blood and respect. They watch for the pacts to
be broken. They know that the main roads, and cities are not theirs,
not yet anyway. They wait, patiently. Mankind will pass, like the
races before...

We've found that many other venues are either too pricey for us, or cannot offer the sort of deal and accommodation we've always had for Continuum and Convulsion. Leicester University continues to offer the best of all worlds.

John Foster Hall was okay, but it did have some problems that we simply haven't experienced before. We'll work with the university to ensure those don't happen again. Its also a new hall and we were one of the largest contingents it had had since opening. It will have more experience come July next year, so I'm sure many of the snags we encountered will have rectified themselves.

The New HeroQuest Core Rules are now available!

Just heard from Moon Design Central that the problems that some people have been having with PDF downloads have been sorted (see below):

Howdy Glorantha-philes!

A very wise friend of mine once observed that most computer problems occur between the chair and the keyboard. That was the case there. It appears I was the source of the problem with the PDF downloads from Plimus (basically I made a little screwup on the email template that turns out to have big problems for you the user).

Problem now appears to be solved. Mr. Spookshow at the Moon Design Studios blog helped solve the problem and had no trouble downloading the Core Rules. Here's his account of the process:

"After I completed the online process, it took me to a page with a link I could click on to view the confirmation emails that were being sent out to me. Copying & pasting the link provided in that allowed me to download the PDF. Also, I checked my email and I had instantly gotten the emails that I previewed, and was able to download the book from there as well. Looking over the pdf right now, looks great! Thanks!"

So download, download, download away!

Folks, our son Mike (Carty) got a mention on the MOD news item re the Harriers leaving Afghanistan.
He's very newsworthy since he's served on the ground and in the air, I hope that the other pilots don't rib him for it too much!

Just finished reading the PDF now it's printed out, and this is a great pulp setting for Savage. This and Slipstream really define the two sides of the genre (the Nazi smashing adventure and the SF Flash Gordon style).

Recommended.
